Bottlenose – Trend intelligence on people, topics, and content through dashboard and visualization tool. Shows positive and negative influencers, trending images, videos, links.
BrandMentions – Analyzes competitors mentions across the Web on all types of sites including media. Three plans, all offer free trial.
Brandwatch – Owns a fleet of sites (such as Buzzsumo) and products that provide digital consumer intelligence.
BuiltWith – Shows the analytics, advertising, hosting, widgets, and CMS a site is using. Also shows URL’s that redirect to a single URL. TIP – This tool offers a “Keyword Lists” option that pulls sites with specific keywords on the homepage. You can filter results, great way to find content sources. Jumpshot – Collects web activity data from 100+ million devices throughout the world and collects insights like “path to purchase”. Can provide data on walled gardens like Amazon and Target.
Kompyte – Track every change your competitors make to their sites, products and digital campaigns.
Moat – Type in the name of a competitor/brand and Moat will return all the ads, dates they ran, size and if on desktop/mobile. The tool will also show related brands and has an analytics package.
Quantcast – Provides demographics, lifestyle and geographic information for user audiences.
RedditList – Tracks the top 5000 subreddits by topic. You’ll need to scroll a bit as they are not listed in any particular order. Free to use.
SimilarWeb – Competitive intelligence tool benchmarks your site against competitors and industry as a whole, helps discover new partner and affiliate opportunities, identifies trends and new players. Chrome extension (free) shows traffic and engagement metrics.
Site Alerts – Get instant but basic insights and answers to how much traffic a website receives, where the traffic comes from, what tools the site is using, keywords they rank for and social media impact. Use it for your site or a competitor.
Siteliner – Look at someone else’s site and see their duplicate content, broken links, related domains, average page load speeds, number of words per page, internal and external links. Limited to sites with <250 pages. Free and paid version, this tool is owned by Copyscape.
SpyFu – Provides keyword intelligence for SEO and PPC campaigns.
TrackEngine – Sends email to alert you when changes made to a competitors/retail webpage. Will also send emails to your visitor’s list when you add content to your site. Drag and drop button to your toolbar, no charge.
Track Maven – Follows up to ten competitors across various social media networks and content channels. Emails results, pricing upon request.
VisualPing – Tool monitors webpages for changes. Receive an email when it detects any change to the content on the page. Great for finding out when content is added, price tracking, ticket and product availability, competitive snooping and more! (Used to be ChangeDetection)
WhatRunsWhere – See the top ads running by keyword, ad type, location, date range and more. This tool helps you figure out what images and text are driving conversions within the last 30 days.
